The Australian Miners Collection is a series of over ten collectable individual mining design port decanter shapes focusing on Australian mining equipment. Each decanter in the series is filled with a beautiful aged tawny port Two new shapes will be released each year .Each mining design in the collection is individually sculpted by an artist some times taking months to perfect the design. Extensive hand decoration, with hand painting, staining and air brush work as well as art design and colour decal production and positioning means that each piece in the collection is individual and unique when completed

SERIES ONE Miners helmet with light and cable (750ml Tawny Port)

Pictured below (Series One) the miners helmet with light and cable. Each helmet has been hand stained and painted before being glazed to give the appearance of being old and dirty just like a real miners underground helmet. The hand painted finish creates a result of no two helmets being exactly the same. The miners helmet is filled with 750ml of tawny port
Actual size is approx Length 200mm Width 140mm Height 100mm

SERIES TWO Mining dump truck (1500ml Tawny Port)

Individually stained in an orange brown finish with the trucks load being hand painted in a grey black colour The tyres are air brushed with additional hand painting. Each truck contains 1500ml of Tawny Port
Actual size is Length 230mm Width 130mm Height 140mm

SERIES THREE Miners Safety Lamp (750ml Tawny Port)

Each lamp is hand painted with liquid metal to create a realistic metalic appearance. The Safety Lamp also has further extensive hand painting and staining keeping with a rustic individual finish making each piece in the Australian Miners Collection unique.
Actual size 260mm in height 95mm width across base

SERIES FOUR Underground Loader

Our most detailed piece yet, right down to the bolts and hinges on the metal panelling. Each piece is individually hand painted and stained giving a genuine working appearance of an underground loader. This unique two piece design cleverly conceals the spout inside the loaders bucket which can be easily removed.
Length 380mm by
Height 75mm by
Width 85mm

Each underground loader is filled with 750 ml of tawny port

SERIES FIVE Plunger Detonator

This unique old design has been treated in a special high temperature glaze that creates an aged brown appearance.Additional pieces that make up this design include leather strap, brass terminals and plunger handle stopper.
Actual size is 150mm height,120mm square, height with plunger handle in 230mm

Series six Giant Mining Excavator

This complex design has taken our modeling department months to perfect. With over ten pieces that release from the mould to produce each model this is with out a doubt our most elaborate production in the Australian Miners Collection to date. Based on a Lieberr these excavators have a working bucket capacity 26 - 33 m3 The overall operating weight of these giant machines range from approx 450 - 650 tone
Actual size : Length 340mm height 170 mm width 130mm Port fill is One litre

Series seven Underground water bottle One litre port fill

Out of use for the last 40 odd years, the underground water bottle was originally made of tin to prevent vermin from getting into it. Each miner would carry their individual bottle over their shoulder by the means of a piece of rope. Once underground they would tack the rope to a timber beam and that would be their water supply for the duration of their shift. In those days a miners water supply was his life source.
Actual size : Height 260mm Width 140mm

Series eight Head Frame
One litre port fill

The pit-head frame is the metallic construction crowning the mineshaft. It was formerly used to support the lift which took men, equipment and empty wagons down the shaft, bringing the wagons up full. The lift cables, connected to the engine located in a contiguous building, passed over the two wheels at the top of the structure, plunging vertically down the shaft and supporting the lift cages
Actual size : Height 250mm, Width 190mm, Depth 95mm

Series nine Self - Rescuer
( One litre port fill )

With a combination of a special liquid metal application and hand staining we have managed to almost exactly replicate the original self rescue pack design. In one of the hardest work places in the world the self rescuer has been developed for applications involving difficult working conditions such as underground mining and tunnel rescue and to provide personal protection in an emergency against life threatening gases. The apparatus is constantly worn on the miners belt and when operated the self rescuer gives the user immediate oxygen supply through a quick starter.
Actual size : Height 160mm, Width 185mm, Depth 80mm

Series Ten Underground Shuttle Car
( Port fill 600 ml )

In an underground mine the role of haulage equipment such as a shuttle car
is to efficiently remove the cut material from the working face in such a
manner so as to enhance the performance of the continuous miner and maximize
the productivity of the overall section.
Actual size : Length 300 mm , Height 70mm and Width 100mm

Series Eleven Bulldozer
( Port fill 750 ml )

Bulldozers are primarily used for moving large quantities of material ( dirt, rock, aggregate, etc. ) They are frequently used in open cut mining involving gold and coal. As an example, exposed coal seams are carefully cleaned with dozers before mining can start with the use of hydraulic excavators. These types of bulldozers are among the largest conventional bulldozers used in the world.
Actual size : Length 300mm , Height 120mm and Width through mid section 120mm

Series Twelve Underground mine truck
( Port fill 750 ml )

This ceramic model is based on the Atlas Copco MT5010 undergound mine truck With a 50-ton capacity this truck is the largest underground truck ever manufactured by Atlas Copco Wagner and it is designed to provide high production capability in larger underground applications, particularly those in Australia. The MT5000 truck is powered by the new Detroit Diesel/MTU series 2000 diesel engine. The eight-cylinder version used in the MT5010 is rated 650 hp at 2100 rpm and incorporates the third generation of Detroit Diesel's DDEC electronic engine control system.
Actual size : Length 325mm , Height 120mm and Width through mid section 87mm

Series Thirteen Continuous Miner
( Port fill 600 ml )

First introduced in the late 1940's, continuous miners provided a quantum leap in the speed and efficiency of extracting coal. Modern versions operate on basically the same principal as their predecessors using a large rotating steel drum equipped with tungsten carbide steel teeth or cutting bits to cut the coal. Continuous mining machines rip the coal from the coal face and load it onto shuttle cars that transport the coal to a central loading point for removal from the mine. New, more powerful continuous miners are highly productive and are remotely controlled being designed for a variety of seams and mining conditions. These make possible even fuller recovery of the available coal, while removing the machine operator further from the working area.
Actual size : Length 340mm , Height 90mm and Width through mid section 160mm

Series Fourteen Rubber tyred loader
( One Litre Port fill )

This complex design has taken our modeling department months to perfect, just as it did with our giant excavator. These giant loaders generally work in open cut mines where they shovel 1000's of tons of material every day.Giant loaders can actually load a four hundred ton truck in just five passes, at that rate mining productivity is very fast. The bucket capacity for these loaders is approx 38 Tons.
Actual size : Length 370mm , Height 140mm and Width 120mm
